Blog 7- The Art of the Start

10 Take Aways from The Art of the Start

1) Make meaning- making meaning is the only reason to start a company/project. Setting out to just make money will not lead to a successful venture

2) ‘Meaning’ can be found in three ways
* Increase quality of life
* Right a wrong
* Prevent the end of something good

3) Have a mantra for your company/project, not a mission statement. A mantra should be short and meaningful

4) A Mantra should be memorable, meaningful, and everyone should know what your mantra is and answer “why do you exist?”

5) Don’t get stuck in the analysis paralysis and just get going, even if things aren’t perfected yet

6) You won’t appeal to everyone. Trying to create something that appeals to everyone will lead to a mediocre product.

7) Ask women about your business model!

8) Its better to have a small, loyal customer base rather than appealing to everyone and becoming obsolete.

9) Don’t do it alone. You need people to bring balance and diverse points of view.

10) Bring on people that are better than you will exponentially grow the team’s skills and companies success.
