About TüLIP

TüLIP is the Lehigh University College of Education’s institutional partnership with Tübingen Universität, in Tübingen Germany. The partnership includes opportunities for academic exchange, research collaborations, and practical experiences.

The partnership between Lehigh University and the University of Tübingen began in 2008, and since then has supported the exchange of graduate students and professors from both universities. The objectives of TüLIP are:

  • To encourage and support academic collaboration through research and study.
  • To promote mutually beneficial academic engagement.
  • To advance learning through student exchange for course work or research.
  • To promote practical experiences related to international education.

Highlights of the Tübingen-Lehigh International Partnership:

  • Location: Tübingen is a historic town located in the Swabian region of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, and home to a strong Lehigh partnership and presence. Stuttgart and Frankfurt are only a short train or bus ride away. With its manageable size, friendly people, and many events and festivities throughout the year this beautiful town is the ideal homebase for all Lehigh graduate students looking for a safe, culturally diverse, and academically enriching experience!
  • 20160610_102731Academics/Research: Lehigh students have the option to take either full term (April-July, arriving in Tübingen in mid-March) or short schedule (1-3 weeks in June) courses taught in English. These courses are taken for Lehigh credit, which is applied toward Lehigh degree program completion. Research or field-work may also be taken for Lehigh academic credit and is collaboratively supervised by both Lehigh and Tübingen professors.
  • Cost: Lehigh students only pay Lehigh tuition. Lehigh students are responsible for housing and transportation costs, but cost of living between Bethlehem, PA and Tübingen, Germany are relatively equal making this a highly affordable option.
  • Housing/Transportation: Lehigh students live in university housing or apartments/flats in Tübingen. Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements, with assistance as needed.
