This week in Professor Gupta’s corporate social responsibility course we spoke a lot about stakeholder capitalism. I found this to be very interesting because it showed that if performed properly, there could be many positive outcomes in the long term for all participating parties. Conversely, we talked about why should people even care if there are overall benefits for all participating parties since the whole point of a public corporation is to increase stockholder wealth. Since most companies are still focused on wealth maximization, some corporations are still missing the mark due to the evolution of employee activism and consumer social opinions shifting to a more demanding socially responsible mindset.

In my internship at TempoCasa, we have been continuing to work on database entry. We are planning to do another video this week that is aimed at tourists or students who are interested in working or living in Italy. There are going to be some jokes and warnings because as Americans, there are a few things that we miss such as ice water. We had the day off this week Wednesday because our boss had a series of client meetings which ended up taking the whole day. There was a storm over the weekend where part of the ceiling on the window fell off in the office. This definitely changed the scenery of the office a lot.

Over the weekend, I flew into Munich, Germany where I got to have dinner and meet the family of my boyfriend. We then drove down to Kitzbühel, Austria where he lives. It was great to get out of Italy and have a completely new kind of cuisine. Some say you never forget how to ride a bike, I think this is true, but I went on a bike for the first time in 10 years and it was certainly a scary and stressful experience, especially because we were in a city. The first night I tried Wiener Schnitzel and it is now one of my favorite meals. We also went on a hike in the mountains where we saw a bunch of cows and other animals. In the evening we took a Gondola up to an incredibly famous mountain that hosts one of the biggest ski races in the world.
