As a result, Trump’s successful strategic use of social media could have potentially far reaching consquences in transforming the way future presidents wage campaigns. Trump took advantage of the daily news cycle and grabbed headline after headline. Once already in the news, he was able to change the narrative of others into one he could control. By declaring negative press as ‘fake news, Trump was able to discredit anyone who opposed him. By using twitter and facebook, Preseident Trump was able to communicate directly with the public without the typical filter of mass media. The freedom of these sites enabled Trump to make seemingly any comment he wanted, without any consequences.
