Mechanism Project Mishap

Houston, we have a problem!!!

My mechanism…broke. On Sunday night, the day before I have to present my mechanism, the worst possible scenario occurred; while trying to make some adjustments to the sliding track, in order to get the track to move more smoothly, some pieces of the mechanism snapped. This is obviously a major issue to say the least. The broken pieces include the prongs, and the backing itself.

So what’s the plan?

We have to move fast! I will be upearly using whatever acrylic I can find trying to re-create my working mechanism. So will this be a triumph or will I be adding this to professor Lehman’s failure resume? Stay tuned!

 

 

Update: 

Through the mud we pulled it out, laser cutting and assembling the mechanism just in time. Shoutout Angela for letting me use her left over acrylic. With some additional features like a stand for the mechanism, as well as improved prongs, this is how it turned out:
