Day 10: A Beautiful Day in Bumba

Today we went to the beautiful village of Bumba, nestled in between lush mountains in a rural area of the Bombali district. We were welcomed by the chief of the village who told us about waterfalls that many people walk to and swim in when the weather permits. Unfortunately, on this visit we didn’t have time to hike, but it was definitely the most beautiful area we’ve seen since being in Salone.

We had another busy day of interviews and respondents were very welcoming, as usual, and were more than willing to take time to respond to our questions. Despite being about an hour outside of Makeni, there was a large and well constructed primary school on the outskirts of town and many villagers attended up to senior secondary school as well. It was interesting because it was very similar to villages closer to the city even though it initially seemed remote.

We had another successful day and completed a total of 34 surveys.
