One thing that I am constantly doing, if there is a writing utensil in my hand, is doodling. Words, drawings, scribbles, symbols, lyrics, shapes, anything of that nature. There was no single notable event that led me to begin doing so, but it is something I always find myself doing. No one told me that is something to do when I am bored, or when I am not concentrating, or when I want to relax. Perhaps it is my tendency to always be moving in some way (i.e. my feet tapping on the ground, my legs changing the position of how they are crossed, my fingers drumming on the desk, etc.) that led me to start doodling. I found that there is something relaxing about having no plan of what the ink will create, and letting whatever thoughts or emotions just flow out onto the paper. I think that doodling, as simple and silly as it seems, is a great way to get in touch with your thoughts and feelings. It is a form of expression that may help individuals connect with their creative minds as well. And the beauty of it is that it can be done anywhere, anytime, and only requires a pen and paper!
