Mentoring is vital to preparing courageous aspiring leaders to be change agents and systems thinkers in the challenging arena of public schools and school districts. My own superintendent leadership benefitted significantly from excellent mentorship, and now that my mission is to identify, prepare, and support the next generation of leaders, serving as a mentor - formally and informally - is an excellent way to give back and an essential ingredient for leadership preparation.
