Diversity and Inclusion Programs at Lehigh

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Last month, Pat Farrell, Provost, Pat Johnson, VP Finance & Administration, and Chris Halladay, AVP Human Resources, encouraged us all to learn more about diversity and inclusion issues and their impact here at Lehigh. Specifically, they encouraged everyone to attend at least two events, seminars, lectures, or training opportunities focused on diversity, inclusion, or the campus climate before the end of the semester.

Time is flying, and December will be here before we know it! If you are still looking for your opportunity to learn more, visit the Diversity and Inclusion section of the university’s master events calendar. You can also go to the Resources page of the Diversity and Inclusion website to find organizations and groups across campus with which to engage.

Don’t forget: If you are hosting an upcoming event related to diversity and inclusion you wish to share, be sure to post it to the main calendar and tag it as “diversity and inclusion” so it appears as an option for others.

The intent of the diversity tag for events is to capture opportunities for Lehigh community members to widen their perspectives, encounter new information on cultures and backgrounds, and build community through strengthening connections and sharing ideas. Event planners are invited to use this tag when they are incorporating topics of diversity and inclusion that span a wide view of diversity (religion, race, gender, ability, to name a few). If the event is open and inclusive, offers the chance for exposure to new ideas, or will help broaden participants’ understanding of diversity, then please use the tag.

The CEC wishes to thank everyone who has already taken this challenge, as well as those who are setting aside their valuable time in the next few months. This is a great chance to explore new ideas, broaden your mind, and help Lehigh become a richer and more vibrant community for us all.
