Transportation Modes: This investigation will allow students to explore various modes of transportation (e.g., car, bus, bike) and the environmental detriments or benefits of each. Students will utilize maps to construct efficient transportation routes, calculate the carbon output/offset for each method (tying in the Carbon Sequestration, and propose changes that could be submitted to local government regarding transportation options (i.e., bike paths, mass transit routes). Mentors will assist with interpreting maps, routes, and the environmental impact of various modes of transportation, and provide students with feedback on their recommendations.
