If I can’t write, what kind of person would I be? This is the question that often comes to my mind. If it comes true, the sincerest way for me to express my idea is speaking. Personally, I am not used to expressing my emotions verbally, especially love. Then, I lost too many chances to say love to my mum, dad and my friends. Fortunately, in the real world, I have the ability to write to show my ideas to other people. The novel, A Boy Only Has One Wing, which I wrote in the fifth grade was the turning point of my writing in my life.
When I was six years old, my father sat on my bed and told me different fairy tales every day. It was common for me to be attracted by the amazing plot and thought of the plot all the night. I wondered how the authors wrote those unrealistic stories so well without firsthand experience. I can’t find the answer, but I still enjoy in the world which authors create.
Five years passed; I became a student in the fifth grade in a primary school. I started to plan my own novel. The first topic came to my mind was love due to the romantic plots happening in Taiwan TV shows, which attracted me a lot. Actually, I had no idea about how to write a love story because I didn’t have any experience at that time. I failed, and I was quite disappointed. My friend, Heng, helped me a lot. She encouraged me to choose another topic. Then, with careful deliberation, I chose to write fiction. The reason I thought to be good at writing fiction at that time is the experience of playing computer games with my father when I was three years old. I saw different characters with different magic power in the game. This gave me inspiration to write a novel.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember all the details in that story, but the plot is still in my mind. The name of the book is A Boy Only Has One Wing. The story is about a little boy called AN who lives with his mother, and runs into another world by accidence and meets different kinds of strange people every day. At the very beginning, he is shocked by their faces and magic power. As time goes on, he accepts all the differences and becomes good friends with these strange people, even the animals. Also, he is encouraged to fight against the ugly monster and earns magic power when he comes back to the real world. The book is still in my old computer, and my parents keep it as a treasure.
During the process of writing, I faced a lot of difficulties, such as the composition of a sentence and how the plot develops in the next step. My friend played an indispensable role in my life then. She was always the first reader and told me that I was a really good writer. She encourages me and makes me to be a better writer.
The book changes me in different aspects. I always believe that imagination makes a person becomes more interesting. After that, I am always willing to write with my passion. On the other hand, I built up confidence by this book. Although the book wasn’t published, I can still tell my friends that I wrote fiction before because I am really proud of myself. To me, writing is a magic power for me to catch my readers’ attention, just like the magic power An learns to overcome all the difficulties.
