They wanted her to be perfect. Perfectly dressed. Perfectly neat. Perfectly literate. Perfectly perfect for the world outside. The reputation of the family has to be never tarnished so don’t go around doing that or wearing that. Be happy but the way society defines happy for ‘people like us’ I do not understand that phrase. So money apparently gives us one more leg or more hair than the others? Then what is ‘people like us’? They say people put the rich on a pedestal. No. We had put us and every other person on a pedestal according to his economic stature. It doesn’t matter if someone is happy with someone. Cause well people like us don’t do ‘things like that.’ Things like that apparently means opening up to someone unlike you, who you can trust. Is it just my country or the world? Cause then when will I ever find my identity? When will I be me and not ‘people like us’?
