Inspired by a Valentine’s reflection of something that feels more powerful than an “eros” infatuation over a single individual. It is a kind of “agape” love which I hope can be found “all around us” at some point even if it were just an inward disposition. However, with George Floyd’s corpse as evidence, it is still adrift given our current racialized systems. Yet, I am still convinced it is a kind of human love we as a society and as a biologically linked species are longing for.
This collage is a subversion of American symbolism with the red white and blue and an introspection of the deep yearning for the Black body to finally enjoy the warm embrace of social justice… “A Love Letter To Justice“
