Outstanding Poster Award, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Symposium, 2017:
Bike ride from Harper’s Ferry, WV:
Hi my name is Justin B. Nice. I’m from Pennsylvania and currently studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh University where I work in the lab of Angela C. Brown in the “Biological Interfaces in Disease” lab (https://wordpress.lehigh.edu/brownlab/)
I’m in my 4th year in the Ph.D. program. Outside of lab I enjoy cycling (recently rode from West Virginia to D.C. and back) and brewing (I placed 4th in a competition).
My past projects include:
Clemson University – Master’s Thesis Project – Nanotherapeutic for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Investigated targeted combinatorial targeted nanotherapeutics for neuronal regeneration after TBI
- Synthesized and characterized novel polymers; assessed efficacy as drug/nucleic acid delivery agent
- Demonstrated transfection superiority over current standard
Lehigh University – Undergraduate Project – Biofilms Related Protein (MORN domain)
- Examined protein only expressed in infectious Meningitis believed to be used in biofilm production
- Transformed plasmid coding for protein of interest into E. coli
- Purified protein from cell lysate using nickel affinity chromatography for structural analysis
