Professional Summary

János D. Pintér is a researcher and practitioner with over four decades of work experience. His broad professional interests are related to analytics and operations research. Specific interests include model, algorithm and software development for nonlinear optimization, with a broad range of applications. He holds an M.Sc. in the area of Applied Mathematics / Operations Research from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Hungary; received his Ph.D. in Probability Theory / Stochastic Optimization from Moscow State University; and obtained his D.Sc. in Mathematics / Global Optimization from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Pintér wrote a university text, a research monograph, and two electronic tutorial books. He is also editor / co-editor of six other internationally published volumes, see the links under the menu item Research. He is the author / co-author of more than 200 scholarly publications: articles, book chapters, contributions to conference proceedings, technical reports, and book reviews. See the menu item Publications for further details.

During his professional career, Dr. Pintér has received research grants, awards and fellowships e.g., in Australia, Canada, Hungary, Netherlands, and the United States. He has worked and presented lectures in more than 40 countries of the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Region.

Dr. Pintér is the principal developer of several nonlinear optimization software product versions, implemented as compiled products, with links to spreadsheets, optimization modeling languages, and integrated scientific-technical computing systems. These professional software products have been in use around the world by hundreds of academic, business, government, and research organizations.

Dr. Pintér joined the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Lehigh University as a Professor of Practice in August 2016. At Lehigh, he has been teaching the following courses:

Applied Engineering Statistics (ISE 121)

Introduction to Stochastic Models in Operations Research (ISE 230)

Optimization Models and Applications (ISE 316 and 426)

Engineering Statistics (ISE 328)

Financial Optimization (ISE 347 and 447)

Introduction to Engineering Mathematics (ISE 357)
