Call for Internal Proposals: NEH Summer Stipend 2016

NEH has announced the 2016 Summer Stipend Competition. Below you will find a short summary of the program.  The NEH website includes the full guidelines, FAQs and sample proposals.  After reviewing these, if you feel that your work would be a fit for the program, please submit a short proposal to the Office of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Research and Graduate Studies at VPResearch@lehigh.edu. Lehigh is limited to two nominations, and therefore we will be reviewing proposals through an internal evaluation process.

Short proposals and a recent CV will be due to our office on August 1st, 2015 no later than 11:59 PM.  Proposals should be a 3 page narrative that outlines your project, goals, and relevance to NEH’s guidelines.  Also pay particular attention to NEH’s new initiative – The Common Good: The Humanities in the Public Square – that seeks to connect the study of humanities to current conditions of national life.  If you are submitting a proposal under that initiative, please note that in your narrative.

Recent NEH summer stipend award recipients from Lehigh include: Roslyn Weiss (2007, 2015), Connie Cook (2008), Aladdin Yaqub (2009), Michael Raposa (2010), and Jenna Lay (2012).

We highly recommend you take a look at the NEH Summer Stipend website for guidelines and proposal samples.  They are very clear in what they are looking for and how to structure your proposal, which be very helpful in preparing a competitive submission.
