MARTHA POSNER: HONEYSUCKLE COUTURE
September 1, 2003 - December 31, 2003
An interactive outdoor sculpture exhibition by noted artist Martha Posner that combines two bodies of work: “Waking the Wood”, a series from the early and mid-1990s, and her most current series of woven and waxed empty garments.
In September, Posner will construct three human-scale dresses made of honeysuckle, wire, and wild rosecanes at an outdoor site on the Lehigh Campus. Students and visitors will be invited to watch and/or help, and ask questions.
Martha Postner is a nationally recognized sculptor whose work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and is included in the permanent collections of numerous museums and institutions. She is known for her innovative use of natural organic materials, personally gathered from the woods and fields near her home.
