Matthew McClain is an author, engineer, designer, and maker living in Bethlehem, PA. He was born in Pasadena, California, and has spent most of his life trying to make things.
In high school, he spent a lot of time trying to make a robotics club, and then trying to make robots. Eventually, he made a curriculum that could help other people learn to make robots using Arduino, and it got him a job running a S.T.E.A.M summer program at Oakwood School.
In college, he was given the opportunity to make screenplays for Mountain Hawk Film Productions, Lehigh University’s student film club. Eventually, he made himself into Vice President, and organized the production of many, many film projects.
In 2019, he worked as a product engineering co-op at Crayola, and helped to make pens, markers, and toys by making 3D models in Solidworks and 3D printing design prototypes.
In 2021, Matthew graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Lehigh’s innovative I.D.E.A.S. honors major with concentrations in integrated electrical engineering and product design.
Today, Matthew still likes to makes a lot of different things. His first book, Arduino for Artists, is about some of those things, and will be published on June 19, 2021.
