Vermaak Group research on inelastic design for metals highlighted by industry in a joint article from MTS Systems Corporation, a provider of testing and sensing solutions, and Trilion Quality Systems, developer of precision 3D optical measurement and inspection testing devices. MTS and Trilion featured Prof. Vermaak’s leading work on the cyclic inelastic design of materials and structures in complex multiaxial high temperature environments using her thermostructural rig. Vermaak’s research group has developed a test rig that combines a mechanical axial-torsional testing machine with high temperature induction heating, thermography, and high-temperature strain measurement via extensometry and Digital Image Correlation (DIC). The MTS article is titled: “Leveraging Non-Contacting Strain Measurement” and can be found here: http://www.mts.com/cs/groups/public/documents/library/mts_4036934.pdf.
