Discussion Forum 1: The Consortium Hub – potential benefits to members

Introductory Comments by a University Partner (Rainier Martini, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Stevens Institute of Technology; 5-7 minutes), Moderator: Anand Jagota (Lehigh University)

The hub as a central point for communications to and from university and industry members through designated representatives from each institution – needs some administrative structure?

● Provide a template for the P3 type program for items common to all institutions
● Provide a template or guidance for issues related to Industry partnerships, like
Intellectual Property issues, student sponsorships, co-advising, residency
● Provide access to common graduate courses on essential skills/competencies through
cross-registration between member institutions
● Enhance diversity recruitment of P3 fellows – through centralized recruitment
● Develop a financial model (discussed in Forum 2)

3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Discussion Forum 2: Financial Model for the consortium and its role in fundraising for the program

Introductory comments by a University Partner (Stanley Dunn, Vice Provost and Dean, Graduate Education, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; 5-7 minutes); Moderator: Volkmar Dierolf (Lehigh University)

● Support for each institution’s P3 programs from Industry, Federal agencies, internal
support from partner institutions.
● Role of consortium as an advocacy group to seek funding from Federal agencies, for this
educational model, at a national scale
