Public Humanities WordPress Website Creation
- Log in to wordpress.lehigh.edu
- Login button on top left
- This will automatically create your account and site
- Site will be wordpress.lehigh.edu/myID (e.g., wordpress.lehigh.edu/row3/)
- Site will appear under “my sites” select “dashboard” for your site
- Follow along creation of example site (wordpress.lehigh.edu/eng496demo/)
- Create Pages (Pages -> Add New)
- Difference between Pages / Posts
- Create following pages: Home, Documentary, Photos, Podcasts, Research
- Use Home page template for home – decide if you want full-page or default for others
- Placeholder text for now, but will cover basic editing
- Set your “home” page as the default static homepage under Appearance->Customize->Home Page Settings
- Create Menu
- Name your menu “Main” and create it
- Add your pages to menu
- Order as desired
- Change link titles if needed
- Assign main menu as primary menu
