Public Humanities WordPress Website Creation

• Log in to wordpress.lehigh.edu
  • Login button on top left
  • This will automatically create your account and site
    • Site will be wordpress.lehigh.edu/myID (e.g., wordpress.lehigh.edu/row3/)
    • Site will appear under “my sites” select “dashboard” for your site
  • Follow along creation of example site (wordpress.lehigh.edu/eng496demo/)
• Create Pages (Pages -> Add New)
  • Difference between Pages / Posts
  • Create following pages: Home, Documentary, Photos, Podcasts, Research
    • Use Home page template for home – decide if you want full-page or default for others
  • Placeholder text for now, but will cover basic editing
  • Set your “home” page as the default static homepage under Appearance->Customize->Home Page Settings
• Create Menu
  • Name your menu “Main” and create it
  • Add your pages to menu
  • Order as desired
  • Change link titles if needed
  • Assign main menu as primary menu
