Welcome to our new blog. This is THE spot for hanging out with the librarians. Check back here about once a week to meet everyone and to read about a lot of different topics. Or subscribe in your RSS feed. As a way to get the blog rolling, let me introduce myself. I’m Heather Simoneau, the business librarian, and I will be your blog hostess for this inaugural post. I’m also a Lehigh alumna, Class of None Of Your Beeswax. Let’s just say that I’m old enough:
- to remember when the Brown & White had a special section on page 2 advertising the weekend’s parties
- to be an Engineer
, not a Mountain Hawk - and to own legwarmers from the first time they were in style.
The winner of our Name the Blog contest is Tina Hertel. Congratulations, Tina, for providing the winning name for the blog, Sages of the Pages. 
I’m already knitting something for you, in Penn State colors, so you will have to be content with winning the admiration of your peers. The blog’s template was designed by Digital Library gurus Rob Weidman and Mark Canney, and is based upon some of the illuminated manuscripts in Lehigh’s Special Collections.
Librarians tend to love feedback. Please leave a comment with your impressions of our blog. The design is not cast in stone so let us know how we could improve it. Specifically, there is dissension in the ranks about the large BLOG in the heading. Should it stay or should it go? By the way, I should mention that comments will be moderated just in case someone uses profanity or other offensive language. That’s about the extent of the censorship. Calling me a cotton-headed ninny-muggins is an example of a remark that WILL make it past the censors.
One last thing, did everyone read the Provost’s e-mail notifying us that LU Alerts will now be used in cases of weather-related closures and dismissals? Yet another good reason to sign up for LU Alerts if you have not already done so. Having timely and reliable access to information in the case of emergencies would be the other good reason.

Nice start to the new blog Heather!
Love the look of the new blog! I’m not a huge fan of the big “BLOG” up there in the header. Any chance of getting the “Sages of the Pages” put there instead since that’s the name of the blog (like the name, BTW).
Hey, so I see over in the sidebar that you’re offering candy to visitors. Better tell them you have “granny candy” and not the good stuff. I’m sure they’ll be disappointed to find candy from 1985 in your dish. Just sayin’.
Good luck with the blog! I’m looking forward to learning more about library services, especially all the cool stuff I don’t generally know about, even though I’ve been at Lehigh long enough to get a rocking chair.
