Error Correction Coding for Wireless Communications

Forward Error Correction :

Performance evaluation of forward error correction coding for Rayleigh fading channels.

  • Performance and analysis of product accumulate codes on non-dispersive Rayleigh fading channels with and without channel state information is conducted. Impressive coding gain is achievable. Analysis focuses on union bounding techniques and density evolution techniques (paper).

Rate Compatible Codes & Automatic Repeat rQuest Systems:

Automatic repeat request (ARQ) systems are widely used in wireless communications to ensure reliable communications. In particular, type-II hybrid ARQ systems uses incremental redundancy retransmission and is shown to be quiet throughput efficient. The key is to design/construct good rate-compatible (RC) codes that are both efficient and flexible.

  • We investigate a capacity-approaching type-II hybrid ARQ system: proposed a systematic scheme to construct RC-LDPC codes employing the techniques of both extendng and puncturing, computed the thresholds of punctured LDPC codes using Density Evolution (DE). (paper)
