Educational Inequality

6.8 million children, or about 1 in 11 of all children in the U.S., live at 50 percent below the federal poverty line. 30% of children raised in poverty do not finish high school. People who do not earn a high school diploma by age 20 are 7 times more likely to be persistently poor between ages 25 and 30.

Who is to blame? How do we fix this?

This is a tough, hard hitting question. The current economy system is to blame, but full on socialism is not the answer. That being said, to give these students similar academic opportunities, financial aid needs to continue to be in effect. Government money should go towards these high schools as well to give these students more of an opportunity and teachers need to stress the importance of graduating.

You raise an interesting point here. It would be difficult to pinpoint exactly who is to blame when there are so many factors involved. Perhaps the government in whole is at fault. Policies can and should be put in place to fix this.
