Two new great folk horror films have been released recently–both very different and representing two very different strands of folk horror. I have substantial reviews of both on Horror Homeroom.
Ben Wheatley’s new film, In the Earth, premiered at Sundance at the end of January 2021.
As I discuss here, In the Earth represents a form of folk horror that drives toward the power of nature.
And, on February 11, 2021, the Swedish film, Red Dot opened on Netflix. As I discuss here, Red Dot is an example of “survival folk horror.”
