This morning half of the AISHA team was able to sleep in, while the other half went to World Hope International as usual. The team that was able to sleep in went to Makeni General Hospital to do a couple of demos to a few different departments. Aabi and Omar visited the pediatric, reproductive health, and nutrition departments, while Elif and Eric went to the female medical ward and the male surgical ward.

During these visits the team obtained a lot of valuable feedback such as creating a pamphlet and adding more topics to our database. These topics include diabetes, wound dressing, dental care, and more. One of the nurses that Eric and Elif saw mentioned that they see a lot of surgical cases, but they did not see surgical topics mentioned in the AISHA Answers use case. In the beginning of this trip we had roughly 20 topics to start with our AISHA Answers skill, and now we have over 50 topics! This is really exciting to see as a team, as we are able to truly understand the grasp of our project and reach that we have. The feedback that we received from the workers was very constructive, and it seemed that they were really excited about using AISHA in the future.

Meanwhile, the other team was working on various tasks. Zavier was working on frontend coding, tinkering with the problems with AISHA Answers. Rachel and Sofía were working on the presentation for the DMO meeting demonstration that we have set up for next week. In addition, they also worked on the AISHA Answers database by expanding and adding questions. Rachel also added to our medication list database, as well as contacting Holy Spirit Hospital.

After a long day at the hospital, Eric, Omar, Aabi, and Elif came back to World Hope International. The team had a long debrief regarding what half the team did at the hospital and what the other half did at World Hope International. We decided that tomorrow was a good day to start shadowing different PHUs, so we can better understand how the healthcare system works here in Sierra Leone. We divided up smaller tasks for the short remainder of the day and eventually headed to dinner, where we had delicious spaghetti!
