Lehigh University Graduate Student Outing Club (GSOC) is a graduate student club that aims to provide wilderness opportunities and fun outdoor group activities for fellow graduate students, postdocs, and the Lehigh community at large.

We are a group of graduate students with an adventurous spirit and a mission to serve the community. We seek to form strong bonds in the grad students community, bring cultural fusion, and offer a space for tranquility and de-stressing.

  Artemiza is the current President –and Co-founder of GSOC– is deeply passionate about rock climbing, camping, and the thrill of discovering new sites. Her mission through this club is to share her love for these adventures with fellow students. She firmly believes that by finding happiness within oneself, one can unlock the potential to achieve truly remarkable feats.  
 

Jimmy is the Secretary of GSOC and loves the outdoors! A few of his favorite outdoor activities include tumbling down ski slopes, living in a cabin for a few weeks, exploring new hiking trails, and backpacking the Appalachian. As a member of the GSOC, he looks forward to meeting new people while also being able to join them on countless crazy adventures! 

  
 

Michael is the Treasurer of GSOC and is a first-year PhD student in the economics department. He loves ball and racquet sports, traveling, and sarcasm. In the summer, you’ll find him on the golf course. In the winter, you’ll find him skiing. Regardless, he loves to introduce people to new activities and sharing his passions with others. Never be afraid to say hi!

  
 

Tulika is the Vice-President of GSOC and absolutely loves traveling and backpacking. Exploring a new place and appreciating its beauty and culture gives her extreme joy. She also loves hiking and mountains. Outdoors help her relax and destress her. Through this club, she wishes to help make adventures and spontaneous trips happen so that students can get the break they deserve.

  
 

Cole loves spending time in nature, exploring new places, and challenging himself. He is an avid photographer, skier, rock climber and hiker, and enjoys planning and organizing outdoor activities for club members. He is committed to using his skills and knowledge to help others connect with the outdoors and to protect wild spaces in the most safe and enjoyable way.

  Shasha–our amazing co-founder, president  and for ever heart of GSOC– likes beautiful Pennsylvania and the northeastern US at large. She enjoys backpacking and hiking. She hopes to bring the joy of outdoor activities to more students at Lehigh and gain self-growth in the wilderness.   
  VamC is a fifth-year grad student in the Materials Science department. He is enthusiastic about hiking, traveling, and seeing new places. He enjoys both mountains and beaches alike and staying in Lehigh valley. He is excited to share his enthusiasm for outdoor activities with others in the Lehigh grad community and make some new social connections.  
  Secil loves traveling, swimming, and racquet sports. She enjoys bringing the Lehigh graduate community together through various interesting activities and events. She is looking forward to being part of the amazing GSOC team and helping with the event planning.  
  Syrmalenia is the President of GSOC and a real-life mermaid (a.k.a marine biologist). She is absolutely in love with all kinds of water sports. Outdoors keep her happy and calm. She is also passionate about hiking trips, biking, camping, and exploring the US while meeting new people. Through GSOC she wants to share her passion for nature with the Lehigh community and motivate more students to stay active.  
  Angie is one of the newest officers in the GSOC. Her favorite outdoor hobbies include any paddle sport, hanging out with wildlife, and hiking. She (regrettably) still hasn’t gone backpacking yet, so she hopes to go with the club soon and lead lots of fun trips in the Lehigh Valley this year!  
  Motahareh likes exploring all facets of life which keeps her alive. She enjoys trying out action sports (skating) and traveling to discover new places,  cultures, and local handicrafts. She would adore the opportunity to set up a tent in the wilderness and spend time cooking there. She loves the sea more than the forest. Water activities such as kayaking, swimming, and water scootering make her excited!

 
  Indranil joined GSOC in the summer of 21’ simply because of the joy he felt from the trips in spring. A walk in the woods with sparkling sunlight though the green leaves, company of friends who values friendship, engaging into unexplored outdoor experience and interacting with new students at Lehigh elates his mind and spirit.  
  Luke has been a passionate outdoor enthusiast for all of his life and explores nature through hiking, bird-watching and fly-fishing, among other activities. As part of the GSOC team, he looks forward to sharing his experiences outdoors with members of the Lehigh graduate student community.  
  Mahsa is passionate about outdoor sports and activities and she likes to share this passion with the other grade fellows. Hiking, biking, and camping are her favorites but she is open to get involved in any sort of activity that makes her feel relaxed and energetic at the same time.  
  Sabrina finds the outdoors to be a great place to get to know others and get to know the self. She is excited for the opportunity to connect with other grad students in the variety of settings the GSOC embarks to. Sabrina particularly enjoys bike riding, hiking, rock climbing, and spending time on/near water.  
  Sami likes traveling and backpacking. He loves exploring new places and immersing into a new culture. He also loves hiking, running, and playing tennis. He likes interacting with the outside world because it’s de-stressing and challenging. He would like to share adventures with others as enthusiastic as he is.
