A Message from the Council for Equity and Community

Greetings!

Whether you’re just starting out at Lehigh or you’ve already made South Mountain your home, the Council for Equity and Community (CEC) welcomes you to campus for the 2015-2016 academic year.

The CEC, as you may know, is made up of classmates, colleagues, mentors and friends with the shared goal of creating a more welcoming and inclusive Lehigh. As an independent group, we try to influence university culture and policy, get people talking about issues on and beyond campus, and make connections among groups and projects.

If you’re inspired to change Lehigh for the better, the CEC welcomes your involvement:

– Let us know what you’re up to. Tell us about your ideas or projects, and we can help promote and share them across campus. You can contact us at cec@lehigh.edu, or you can reach out to any one of the individuals who serve on the CEC.

– Speak your mind. The CEC blog is a place for thoughtful and constructive dialogue, and for sharing opinions about current events and ongoing issues. We hope you’ll use it to speak up and be heard in a way that helps move us all forward.

– Challenge yourself. Throughout the year, you’ll see the chance to participate in events and workshops around diversity and inclusion, as well as numerous opportunities for personal growth and deeper understanding of important issues. We encourage you to get involved and take advantage of the chance to learn a little bit more.

– Ask for support. If you have a project you need some help with, let us know and we will see how  we can help by connecting you with resources or providing funding to help you get the plan off the ground. The CEC is proud of our support of many programs and organizations across campus during the last academic year. Learn more about those at http://www1.lehigh.edu/diversity/cec/funding.

With so much energy on campus, we are eager for new ideas and hope that you are excited to share in the evolution of Lehigh. We look forward to hearing from you.
