Olga Bajusova: Children’s Book Illustrations

Slovak artist Olga Bajusova is an award-winning illustrator of children’s books, original drawings and animated films. Her illustrations have been published in over thirty children’s books.
Bajusova studied at the Academy of Fine Art & Design in Bratislava, Slovakia, and her work has been exhibited in Italy, Portugal, Romania, Canada, and Japan. Most recently exhibited in the United States, the artist now resides in Buffalo, New York.
In 1997 Olga Bajusova received the Mlade Leta Publishing Prize and was elected to the International Board of Books for Young People.
Curators’ Statement:
The themes of Bajusova’s work are fairytales and folklore, a struggle towards happy endings through whimsy. Her illustrations, in vivid and vibrant watercolors, show boundless imagination. These original paintings for children’s books are a celebration of the magic of childhood.
