CHRYSSA, YOSHIDA, UTAGAWA, YINGYI

CHRYSSA (b.1933) is a Greek American artist who is best known as a pioneer in light art and luminist sculpture. This exhibition features silkscreen works from her Chinatown portfolio. TOSHI YOSHIDA (1911-1995) was a Japanese printmaker associated with the sosaku-hanga or “creative prints” movement in the early 20th century. TOYONOBU UTAGAWA (1859-86) was a member of the famous Utagawa school of Japanese printmakers who produced some of the most noteworthy examples of ukiyo-e (“floating world”) prints of the 19th century. Contemporary Chinese painter CAO YINGYI (b.1939) creates evocative landscapes using a wet-on-wet watercolor technique.
