Join us for a gallery conversation about the NAEMI exhibition: Visionaries of the Light with LUAG Director/ Chief Curator, Ricardo Viera.  The exhibition is located at the Gallery at Rauch Business Center.  A reception will follow sponsored by Lehigh University’s Barnes & Noble Café.  All LUAG events are free and open to the public.

For NAEMI (National Art Exhibitions of the Mentally Ill), the “art of the mentally ill”  refers to the art produced by individuals, usually self-taught and without any formal artistic training, whose work arises from an intense, innate personal vision. Through public exhibitions NAEMI seeks to educate the public about this art and to aid in overcoming and dispelling any negative bias associated with the circumstances of its production and to affirm the positive power and importance of the creativity of individuals experiencing mental illnesses.

This exhibition, which was curated by Ricardo Viera for NAEMI, draws on the organization’s permanent collection of over one thousand works.

This exhibition is part of Lehigh Valley Photography Month, November 2017, and the InVision Festival, November 3-5.
