Mohamed El-Aasser, professor emeritus of chemical engineering at Lehigh University has held the positions of assistant, associate, and full professor of chemical engineering during the period of 1974-2018.

Areas of research interest include polymer colloids, emulsion & miniemulsion polymerization and emulsification of polymer solutions for the synthesis of latex systems, latex particle morphology, film formation, surfactants and colloidal stability of polymer colloids. Pioneered the field of miniemulsions and related polymer latex systems. During the period of 1972-2018 authored more than 400 articles, edited 5 books and holds 9 U.S patents. Advised a total of 99 PhD students (major advisor of 66, and & co-advised 32), 53 Masters and 31 postdocs. Delivered numerous invited lectures at national and international conferences.
