We produce low-cost test strips that screen for Preeclampsia and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) by identifying biomarkers in urine. Through cooperation with networks of Community Health Workers (CHWs) and established on-the-ground NGOs, Ukweli helps bridge the gap between patients and healthcare in Sierra Leone, and hopes to expand into Liberia and other LMICs in the future.
SPECIFIC
Ukweli UTI and preeclampsia test strips include three parameters (Leukocyte, Nitrite, Protein), to ensure simplicity and ease-of-use among end-users.
AFFORDABLE
Currently, we can manufacture a 3 parameter UTI and preeclampsia strip for $0.02. Competitor 10 parameter test strips run around $1.75.
ACCESSIBLE
We distribute our test strips to Community Health Workers, who will enable Ukweli Test Strips to get into the hands of the people who need it most.
