150 Years Ago…

Today, July 27 1865, is the 150th anniversary of the first meeting of the Trustees of Lehigh University. The meeting took place in the Sun Inn, Bethlehem. Lehigh officially opened and the first classes were held on September 1, 1866 but this July 27, 1865 meeting has always been considered the beginning of the University.
