2018 Eta Kappa Nu Induction Ceremony

On Thursday, October 18, 2018 Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) inducted seven new members. Eta Kappa Nu is the electrical and computer engineering honor society of the IEEE. Lehigh’s Eta Kappa Nu chapter, the Chi chapter, was reactivated three years ago and is continuing to grow. A dedicated and passionate group of ECE students were inducted at this ceremony.

The Eta Kappa Nu officers include: Rebecca Lentz (President), Mitul Surti (Vice President), Thomas Marth (Secretary), Daniel Prongay (Pledge Chair), Roland Nowak (Treasurer), Kelly Vaughn (Social Chair), Cindy Zhao (Community Service Chair).  Professor Doug Frey is the HKN Faculty Adviser.

2018 ECE Fall Fest

Every Fall the student officers of IEEE and Eta Kappa Nu organize the annual ECE Fall Fest to kick off the start of the semester.  It’s a great time for students, faculty and staff to enjoy some good food and mingle with one another.  Thanks to everyone who came out!

2018 Senior Design Expo

On May 3rd, the ECE Senior class presented their Capstone Projects at Building C on Mountain Top Campus!  The two semester ECE/CREG 257/258 Senior Design course provides a formal exposure to the complete transition from an idea to an invention. The senior design course this year was taught by Prof. Richard Decker and Prof. Wenxin Liu.

The outstanding poster award was given to “Solar Cell Power Converter” by Megan Olivola and Emilio Arellano:

125th Anniversary of EE

In April 2018, the ECE department at Lehigh University celebrated a huge milestone- the 125th Anniversary of the department!  Alumni, students, guest and faculty members all showed their support in our one day celebration.  Many thanks to our key note speakers who took time out of their day to talk to our department about the “Future Directions of ECE”, “Electrical Engineering: Future in Industry & Areas”, and “How can we Improve ECE at Lehigh”.  Our Keynote Speakers included: David Bader (Professor & Chair of the School of Computational Science and Engineering, College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology), Michael Reffle (Infinera Corporation) and Philip Wong (Professor at Standford University).  Our Panel Speakers included: Aref Chowdhury (CTO of Optics at Nokia), Jeff Karper (Manager, Power Systems Engineering at Lockheed Martin-Rotary & Mission Systems), Sean Anderson (Principal Engineering with MACOM Technology Solutions), Thomas Charisoulis and Eileen Mazzochette.

Lehigh’s Eta Kappa Nu chapter, the Chi chapter, was reactivated two years ago and is continuing to grow. A dedicated and passionate group of ECE students were inducted at this ceremony.

The Eta Kappa Nu officers include: Ross Zimmerman (President), Matt Wen (Vice President), Hayley Poll (Secretary) and Jacob Kim (Pledge Committee Chair). Professor Doug Frey is the HKN Faculty Adviser.
