Election Day Discussion Events

Dear Lehigh faculty, staff, and students:

Election Day has arrived. While the political campaigning has come to an end, conversations about the election and transition to the next administration, regardless of the results, will continue. The CEC encourages the Lehigh community to use the Guidelines for Effective Cross-Cultural Dialogue to ensure that these conversations, possibly spirited and challenging at times, occur in a respectful and thoughtful way. The Guidelines may be found at http://www1.lehigh.edu/diversity/our-work.

The CEC will sponsor two upcoming events to encourage on-going conversations about the election and use of the Guidelines for Effective Cross-Cultural Dialogue.

The first event will be a facilitated post-election open discussion held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 9th in Maginnes 480. The CEC, in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs, will also be presenting its third session in its series of “Tackling Tough Topics Together” at 12 noon Friday, November 11th in the Global Commons, Williams Hall.

In addition to these two sessions, the Office of International Affairs will also be presenting “Let’s Talk – Post Election” beginning 2 p.m. Friday, November 11th in the Global Union. We encourage you to attend these sessions and to share your thoughts about this election season.

The current political campaign season has sparked many emotions ranging from anxiety to frustration, excitement to passion, and anticipation to dread. The CEC reminds the Lehigh community that numerous resources, both on- and off-campus, are available to support those who find this political climate difficult.
