Schwartz Prize

Eli Schwartz Research Prize

Accepting submissions of undergraduate papers in economics

Earn $1,000 by writing an original research paper

The Department of Economics is inviting papers to be considered for the annual Eli Schwartz Research Prize. Professor Eli Schwartz was a longtime member of the Department of Economics, a former department chair, and a well-known scholar in many areas of economics.

With the generosity of alumnus Richard H. Johnson, the Department has instituted in Professor Schwartz’s honor a prize of $1,000 to be awarded each year to a student who has written an outstanding research paper in economics. All Lehigh undergraduate students may submit a research paper in the area of economics for consideration. Eligible papers include papers submitted for a course or papers researched and written independently. A departmental committee will determine the winner from papers submitted.

To be given full consideration, papers should be submitted before May 10 with the decision typically made by May 15 of the same year.
