Even if I am not confident in something, I don’t let that affect my attitude towards it and does not allow it to affect the team. I also love to have conversations with people, so I feel I can bring my team together and prevent any conflict before it would even begin to arise. I also have a lot of knowledge (at least comparatively)as to how things actually work in Sierra Leone which helps the team focus on relevant tasks.

1: Many people asked us “Why mushrooms?” We need to be clearer about that

2: More pictures that actually have meaning. Not just space fillers

3: Backup Slides!

4: Not adding on to my teammates question responses

5: Better discussion before hand as to who will answer each question (what topics)

6: More specificity and directness. No saying “we hope this”

7: Be slightly more formal. The general lack of text on our slides lead to a more conversational presentation, which can be both good or bad.

8: Think about FAQs before hand. Many questions we got we could have predicted and answered better had we thought about them beforehand.

9: Not looking awkward while my teammates are talking.

10: More text. I think it could have been useful in our directness.

Our project does not require IRB provably. We are not doing any human centered research.

Inputs: Spawn (Grain and plugs), substrate (straw), WHI office, Jawara, funding, mushroom expertise, Shaku/construction materials

Activities: Growing Spawn, Making substrate bags and growing mushrooms, education of Jawara, experimentation of different variables both environmental and physical makeup. Transportation to market, selling of mushrooms, repairs and upkeep of the MPS

Outputs: jobs (even if only a few), mushrooms!, a nutritious food that is available year round

Outcomes: Lower unemployment (a tiny bit) and lower levels of malnutrition.

Impact: Hunger months become less severe
