Accomplishments in Spring 2021 and Summer 2021

App Research

• We added to the health database with information on how air quality impacts human health that the earlier cohort completed the last year
• We compiled all of the research and constructed it into advice for our app 
• We came up with a system to output the advice on an app using levels of susceptibility
• Provided our app outline to an existing air quality monitoring app called AirVision

 

Original Research

• We wrote the demographic survey 
• We finished the IRB proposal 

 

Outreach

• We talked to experts that introduced us to AirVision, who we are working with to get our information out to the public
• Worked on preparing social media posts

 

Current State of the Project

We have partnered with AirVision which is an app with similar goals as our project. We have supplied them with the information that we have already collected and will continue to provide them with the research we are continuing to do. 

 

Goals for Fall 2021

AirVision

• Continue working with airvision to make sure our personalization solution gets implemented and works well.
• Help AirVision communicate the problem of air pollution in an engaging way 
• Think about implementing our personalized air pollution exposure reduction solution into other countries 
• Planning to schedule a meeting the week of 8/30/2021

 

Research

• Topic: “Airflow, Air Pollution, and City Planning”
  • Determine whether construction of tall buildings exacerbate local air quality problems by preventing air flow and compare that to rural areas (short buildings)
  • Write a policy memo
• Distribute Opinion Survey after passing IRB submission
• Write a research paper for our project (summary of our research)
• Propose new app functions 

 

Marketing:

• Meet with Rob Nichols to write an article for us in the Lehigh magazine
  • Planning to schedule a meeting the week of 8/30/2021
• Continue working on Social Media Marketing to promote the App in the Almaty community
