About the ARTCHIVE

In the spring semester of 2022, Kevelis Matthews-Alvarado and Rei Ukon, from ICRES and Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) collaborated to hold a series of interactive workshops on art as activism; in this series, participants were asked to draw inspiration from the Young, Gifted, and Black exhibition and create art that responds to many themes of identity, social injustice, structural violence, power, resistance, healing, and memory. Each workshop sought to intentionally build a space where art-making is activism (artivism).

Following the conclusion of the workshops, Rei and Kevelis, and undergraduate students Rehan Naeem and Alissa Flores, curated and mounted an interactive exhibition featuring artworks created in the workshops among others.

The ARTCHIVE EXHIBITION opening celebration featuring local artists and performances took place at the Humanities Center on May 5th.
