What is an Advocate?
An Advocate is someone who actively encourages others to support the campaign through their own networks. By sharing your unique campaign link, you can see your impact in real time as donations and support come in. Here’s how you can make a difference:
What Does an Advocate Do?
-
- Share the Campaign: Use your unique link to spread the word via social media, text, or email.
- Track Your Impact: See donations generated by your efforts in real-time on the campaign page.
- Storytelling: Post videos sharing your story to spread the word and inspire others.
It’s a simple yet powerful way to get involved and see the direct effect of your efforts in supporting the campaign!
How To Create a GiveCampus Account
- Go to https://www.givecampus.com/schools/LehighUniversity and click “Sign Up” at the top-right of the screen to create your user account.
- Your friends and family don’t need an account to donate, but as an official campaign volunteer, having a user account unlocks the full potential of the Advocate tools.

Key Things to Know:
- Advocate Features Inspire Action – The goal is to motivate others to make donations and get involved.
- Log In to Maximize Your Impact – You must be logged into a GiveCampus user account to track your impact and receive credit for your actions.
Once you sign up, there are three key things you can do as an advocate:
1. Share the Campaign
Social Media: Use built-in sharing buttons to spread the word on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Clicking these buttons will generate a post with the campaign link, making it easy for your network to support.
Email & Text: Share the campaign link directly through email or text. These options copy the link to your clipboard or open your messaging app, enabling you to send it instantly to friends, family, or colleagues.
Impact Tracking: When you share through these buttons, your efforts will be tracked. You’ll see the clicks, gifts, and funds raised as a result of your advocacy appear next to your name on the Advocate tab.
2. Tell Your Story with a Personal Video
A Personal Plea Video is a short video in which you tell your community why you’re excited about the campaign and why others should join you in supporting Lehigh.
Create a Personal Plea Video: Record a short, authentic video telling your community why you’re excited about the campaign and why they should support it too. It doesn’t need to be professionally made—use your phone, speak from the heart, and share why the campaign matters to you.
Be Creative: Include fun elements like school spirit gear, family, or even pets to make your video engaging and personal. The goal is to connect with your audience and inspire them to take action.
Upload Your Video: Once you’ve recorded your video, visit the Advocates tab on the campaign page, and click “Create Your Personal Video” to upload it. After it’s approved, your video will appear alongside your name with a “Watch Personal Video” button that others can click to get inspired by your message.
3. Consider Your Own Gift
Advocates can make an outright gift via the “Give Now” button or they can inspire others to make gifts by offering Matches and Challenges.
FAQ:
I already have a GiveCampus account. Can I use it for this campaign?
Yes! Your account works across all campaigns, so just log in and you’re ready to advocate.
I signed up, but my name isn’t showing in the Advocates section. Why?
Simply creating an account doesn’t count as advocacy. You need to share the campaign link or upload a video to generate support and see your name appear. Your impact will only be tracked if you’re logged into your GiveCampus account while sharing the campaign.
